Aid immigrants rounded up in Iowa

On May 12, federal immigration officials rounded up nearly 400 employees of a kosher meatpacking plant in Iowa, Agriprocessors. The feds not only brought civil immigration charges, but slammed more than 300 workers with felony charges for using fake Social Security numbers. Some of the parents have been released, with surveillance bracelets, to care for their children, but they're unable to work--and thus to pay for rent or food. St. Bridget's, the local Catholic church, has been coordinating legal and financial assistance. To donate, send a check to:
